And another man was killed during weekend recreation - this one in Spanish Lookout. Yesterday 32-year-old Ben Kornelson was trying out a hang glider behind his in laws home. His friends launched him with a rope from a small plateau. And while Kornelson took flight and got to an altitude of 100 feet, a strong wind suddenly crushed the glider, causing it to fold in on itself. The glider lost all buoyancy, and it plummeted to the ground, with Kornelson attached to the brace inside. He is believed to have died on impact.
A family friend told us that they believe the winds were too strong and erratic for the glider. Kornelson was the father of four and the co owner of a western tractor supply.
