Since Friday we've been telling you about the 15 year old girl who claims she was having sexual relations with a police officer who she is now pregnant for. The family told us they believe the police are dragging their feet because the allegations are against one of their own, however yesterday head of the PD's internal affairs division Superintendent Robert Mariano told us they are investigating. Today Police Commissioner of Police Gerald Westby gave his commitment that the girl's allegations will be investigated in due process.

Gerald Westby, Commissioner of Police
"Once officers have been wronged or found to done wrong, they have been dealt with, the record is there and certainly officers are entitled to due process equally. We need to investigate and investigate thoroughly. I spoke this morning to Mr. Mariano, Superintendent, and he told me that the investigation is almost wrapped up and then a determination will be made and the file sent to the DPP."

Keith Swift,
But there is a 15-year-old girl pregnant allegedly by one of your officers.

Gerald Westby,
"Well we will deal with it, we will investigate, and if anybody is found wrong they will be dealt with according to the law as has been the precedent but we need to go through due process."

Mariano told us yesterday that because of the girl having mixed up the names of the officers an identification parade will have to be conducted to certify exactly who the officers involved are. From there the investigation will be taken to the DPP's office for recommendation.
