He held up a Chinese grocery store, and wore a wig to conceal his identity but that didn't do 23-year-old Gary White much good when he appeared in Magistrate's Court today to be tried for 2 counts of robbery.
On September 12 of 2005, white and two other men stormed into highway grocery at mile 2 and a half on the Northern Highway. They snatched $200 from the cash pan and then grabbed a gold chain from around a customer's neck. Despite his less than elaborate disguise, the storeowner picked white out of a line-up on a police ID parade.
In court today Gary White was found guilty of the two counts of robbery. Magistrate Harrison Hewlett sentenced White to 5 years for each offence. They will run consecutively so he will serve 10 years this is in addition to one year, which he is currently serving for drug trafficking.
