In other grim global dispatches about Belize, a newspaper in northern England is reporting that unsuspecting residents of Newcastle are being ripped off by a call service based in Belize. Victims receive a notification that there's a parcel for them and they should call a local number. But when they call that number, they get a recording and are automatically charged 15 pounds, about BZ$50 for the first minute and one pound 50 for every minute after that. Investigators in the UK says it is a mail scam originating in Belize.
