Yesterday at noon there was a ruthless execution in Orange Walk, and last night there was a savage machete death in Corozal.
At 10:30 last night, 30-year-old Adonai Espat stumbled into his mother's home bleeding from a number of chop wounds all over his body. He told her he had been viciously assaulted by two men, who chopped him to the head, and chest. His family took him to the hospital where he told police that he was approached by two men for no reason but his family believes it was an attempted robbery.
Because of the seriousness of his injury, he was transferred to the Orange Walk Hospital for surgery, but died at 3:00 this morning. Police found the site of the assault about 400 yards from his home in the Santa Rita area. It occurred on a Mayan mound.
