Tonight police have no one detained for the hit on 46-year-old Alvaro Zetina. As we reported last night, Zetina was found dead on the Honey Camp Lagoon road yesterday afternoon. Police later found his vehicle in Corozal Town.
According to police intelligence, Zetina was wanted by a Mexican cartel, reportedly after the Anti-Drug Unit discovered a huge shipment of cocaine that had been buried on a Southern Caye. Acting on information possibly provided by Zetina, in April police arrested a Mexican hit man, David Rendon in a Corozal hotel. He was reportedly in Belize to kill Zetina.
Yesterday, Zetina left his home in Orange Walk town to go see a piece of land on the Honey Camp Road. He was ambushed, brought to the back of his Cherokee and shot 8 times. Police have no one detained.
