Couple Robbed and Raped on Marine Parade

Two men have been charged for robbing a couple and then raping the young woman. The 21 year old and a 19-year-old female were sitting on the Marine Parade seawall, when two men on bikes rode up. They held a gun to the couple and stole a cellular phone and a diamond ring from the young man, and snatched a gold chain with two medals from his female friend. One of the men then allegedly raped the 19 year old, while the other assailant subdued her partner. Police on mobile patrol in the area were alerted to the crime in progress and as they approached the area they saw the two individuals fleeing. One of the men fired at the police and an officer returned fire. He hit 19-year-old Michael Trapp to the left leg, and the other officers ran down 22-year-old derrick Sampson. Trapp and Sampson have been jointly charged with the crimes of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery while Sampson was additionally charged with rape.
