A 35-year-old Orange Walk woman has been charged with murder. This afternoon Kimberly Brannon was taken to Magistrate's Court in Orange Walk where she was formally arraigned. Police say that sometime around 10 last night Brannon went to Catt's Pool Room in an area known as Lover's Lane in Orange Walk. It was closed but she got into one of the establishment's rooms at the rear of the building. Once there she broke down another room door and attacked a couple who were huddled down inside, Paul Gonzalez and Ruby Turner Mendez. She stabbed them both using a six inch nail file. Bloodied contents of the room which included this mattress suggest she attacked the couple while they were in bed. Turner Mendez managed to run out of the room and hide in an adjoining bathroom, but Gonzalez was not that lucky and died in the room form multiple stab wounds.
Investigations indicate that Brannon was the girlfriend of Paul Gonzalez and caught them in the act and then attacked them in a jealous rage.
