25-year-old Gareth Humes was in Magistrate’s Court awaiting to go to trial on charges of burglary. Before the trial could begin however he left the courtroom. While could or couldn’t have done so, he did but before he could leave the court officers assigned to security at the court learnt that Humes was wanted by CIB personnel. Noticing that he was being pursued Humes decided to make a run for it. He was chased down however and by the time he made it to an area at the intersection of Bishop Street and Plues Street police had cornered him. He continued to try to evade police and that is when he was shot once in the leg.
He was taken to the KHMH where he remains under police guard. Humes was in court in connection to a report made by his former girlfriend Shellymae Young who claimed he broke into her house on Nargusta Street. Humes is out on a $4,000 bail for that offence and is to return to court on July 21.
No word yet if any other charges will be levied on him or why the cib personnel were looking for him this morning.
