On Wednesday, Donald Gaskin derailed a murder case for the prosecution when he got on the stand and contradicted his own sworn statement, stating that he did not know the person who shot and killed Nicholee Lewis on February 7th of 2004. After that, the prosecution case collapsed, and jury had to declare the accused, Jason Paulino not guilty. But, apparently intent on making an example out of the 23-year-old Gaskin, the DPP's office ordered police to arrest gaskin right after he left the Supreme Court. Today he was taken to Magistrate's Court today where he as formally arraigned on the charge of fabrication of false evidence and in the alternative, contradicting previous evidence. Magistrate Sharon Frazer offered him 6 thousand dollars bail on the condition that he pays a $205 fine which he owes the court. He is to reappear on July 25th.
