A Corozal businessman is missing, after Mexican police found his pickup truck, riddled with bullet holes outside of Chetumal. El Diario de Quinta Roo in Chetumal reports that around 12:30 on Thursday afternoon, police found this black ford pickup truck bearing Belizean license plate C13099 was found in an area of Xul Ha north of Corozal. It had 10 bullet holes and there was a pool of blood on the driver's side.

Eyewitnesses report that the vehicle was pursued by two pickup trucks, a red and a grey one bearing license plates from the Mexican state of Misho-hwakan. Those eyewitnesses say the occupants of the pursuing vehicles released a hail of bullets unto the Belizean truck. Proof of this account came when police officers investigating the case found 40 expended 90-millimeter shells in the area.

Investigations by Mexican authorities have determined that the driver of the vehicle is Ismael Jimenez. Family members of Jimenez have reportedly visited Chetumal and have in fact identified it. They told authorities that Jimenez left Corozal sometime around 9 on Thursday morning. He crossed over into Mexican territory some 20 minutes later and a couple hours later, he was caught in the violent high speed chase. Despite helicopter searches in the area after the incident the attackers were not found neither have the occupant or occupants of the pickup truck.

Jimenez, known as Zorro, is a well-known businessman from Altamira Village in the Corozal district.
