He was the owner of an up and coming business, Auto Zone but today, those auto zone stores across Belize were closed because 33 year old Anthony Espat died in a car accident on Wednesday night. At around 10:30, Espat was driving his distinctive black Volkswagen Jetta to Belmopan when between miles 42 and 43, he lost control of the vehicle presumably because of slick road conditions.

The car skidded off the road, and flipped over on the embankment a number of times. Both Espat and his passenger, 29-year-old Roberto Escobar received extensive injuries. Espat had serious head injuries and died before he reached the Belmopan hospital. A post mortem confirmed that he died of cerebral hemorrhage. Escobar received injuries to his left arm and leg, and remains hospitalized.
