He knocked down a woman and her three-year-old daughter and fled the scene but 55-year-old Carlo Guardado couldn't escape from the law.
Alba Galeano a waitress from Orange Walk Town told police that sometime around 6:30 on Tuesday evening she was riding her bike with her daughter when a vehicle traveling in the same direction, hit her from behind. Galeano says she felt a sudden jerk on her rear wheel. Both mother and daughter were flung from the bike. And if that wasn't bad enough, the drive sped off.
He fled but not fast enough as Galeano wrote down his license plate number. That led police to Guardado who was charged with failure to report a traffic accident, driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, failure to render aid, and negligent harm. He appeared in Magistrate's Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty and was fined a total of $420. He has to pay the fill amount by September 30th or spend three months in jail.
