Last night you heard the chilling account from a grandfather who says he was brutally beaten in his chest with a baseball bat by police officers. Well tonight 61-year-old Elario (Hilario) Eligio is out of the hospital but not out of the woods.
Today police marched up Eligio to court and charged him with obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer. He was released on $800 bail. As we reported last night, Eligio was in his home on Morning Glory Street yesterday afternoon when police pulled and allegedly started to harass Elario's son Frank Eligio. The elder eligio stepped in and that is when he was beaten and detained. Eligio's son frank was also charged with resisting arrest. A doctor has certified Elario Eligio's injuries as harm. He told us he plans to sue.
