Those who buy Belizean visas or permanent residence cards can't complain that they don't get after the sale service. 7NEWS has obtained a letter leaked out of the Department of Immigration dated August 10th 2006. It shows Director Carmen Zetina sending a fax to Mexicana Airlines in Cuba urging them to send 10 Chinese nationals on through to Belize.
Apparently Mexicana in Cuba had concerns because of the human smuggling stigma often associated with Chinese travelers. But worry not, says Zetina. His letter to Mexicana advises that the visas and permanent residence cards issued to the Chinese nationals are genuine. It also notes that all fees have been paid, and asks Mexicana to facilitate their travel to Belize.
The travelers were apparently going from Cuba to Mexico, and then, presumably unto Belize. We were unable to confirm if they have arrived here yet.
