Two men were robbed at gunpoint within an hour of each other when they went into the Mayflower Street area known as Ghost Town on Tuesday. At one in the afternoon, 32 year old tortilla vendor Francisco Mai was tricked into stopping in the Ghost-Town area, held at gunpoint, hauled from his vehicle by 4 men and taken into a nearby yard where his cell phone, his wallet with $1,150 and his watch were stolen.
50 minutes later, construction worker Ronald Cayetano was buying at a store on Vernon Street when a young man asked him for two dollars. He gave the money and was then enticed into buying a watch, and led into Mayflower Street to get it.
Three men were waiting there, but they didn't have a watch, they had a knife; they held him with it and told him to hand over his money. Cayetano took out a Bible within which he had folded $250 in cash. The good book didn't stop them as they snatched the cash and ran off. Today two men, Denver Dominguez and Sherlock Martinez were charged with two counts of robbery for both holdups. Both pleaded not guilty but were remanded until October 30th. Police say they are looking for two more men to bring similar charges.
