He was a policeman convicted of raping a twelve year old girl and sentenced to 12 years in jail, but tonight 49 year old Evan Reynolds is a free man.
The disgraced former cop was freed after the Court of Appeal quashed his conviction for rape and unlawful carnal knowledge. Reynolds defended himself at the appeal and argued that the medical report on the alleged victim was inconclusive and trial judge Adolph Lucas failed to adjourn the ase when an additional statement was issued. The Court of Appeal agreed and they acquitted Reynolds.
He was originally charged for two counts of carnal knowledge and an additional two counts of rape for the incidents which occurred between November and December of 2003 in the first instance and February of 2004 in the second instance.
Evans Reynolds had 20 years with the Police Department and was stationed in Benque when the alleged incidents occurred.
