In May of 2005, Osborne Anderson was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Today the Court of Appeal squashed that conviction for murder and replaced it with manslaughter and sentenced Anderson to 20 years.
Anderson was convicted of killing James McKoy during a drunken bar brawl in Unitedville in December of 2003. Anderson says he was simply defending himself.
Anderson's attorney Antonette Moore argued that the trial judge erred when he failed to leave the issue of excessive force for the jury to decide. DPP Kirk Anderson agreed.
