This morning police in Roaring Creek shot a drug suspect, and they claim it was in self-defense. The story from police is that around 9:30 this morning they were on an anti-drug operation in Roaring Creek when they attempted to search the home of 23-year-old Reginald Ruiz.
Police say that when they entered the home, Ruiz was belligerent and attacked one of the officers with a knife. That is when an officer pulled out his service revolver and shot Ruiz in his left leg. Ruiz was treated and released from the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan. He will be charged with aggravated assault upon a police officer.
