He may know finance figures but the Ministry of Education says Scotia Bank manager Pat Andrews doesn't know their numbers. On Tuesday Scotia Bank's country manager Pat Andrews said the amount of standard six students who continue on to high school is dismal. But more than talk, Andrews said his bank will spend $178,000 over the next five years to ensure that more primary school students finish standard six and move on to high school. Well it seems no good deed goes unpunished.

Today the Ministry of Education fired back at Andrews. The Ministry specifically has a problem with the figures quoted by Andrews. He said the percentage of students who move on to high school is 62%, but the Ministry says it is really 87.7%.

The Ministry did applaud Scotia Bank's efforts but advises the Bank to get its facts straight. Andrews told us the figures he quoted came from a UNICEF study. The bank hopes to help 250 students over the next five years.
