In May of last year she was accused of stealing from her workplace and today 36 year old Deborah Beaton appeared at her former workplace to answer to charges. After the prosecution closed its case against Beaton, her attorney B.Q. Pitts submitted that his client does not have a case to answer and Magistrate Margaret McKenzie agreed. She upheld the submission stating that there was no evidence from the witnesses who testified that it was Beaton who stole the money.
Those witnesses included Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord and clerk of court Earlene Petzold. With the declaration by McKenzie, Beaton was set free amidst and outburst of tears happy to have been cleared of the charges.
Allegations against Beaton were that in May of last year while she was a cashier at the Magistrate's Court she stole several sums of moneys paid by 5 different persons to the court.
