This afternoon Prime Minister Said Musa, Pickstock area representative Godfrey Smith, and the Korean Ambassador to Belize Wung-Sik Kang broke ground on what will be the Central Christian Academy vocational school. The building will be constructed on the campus of the Central Christian Primary School. The project will cost half a million dollars and it is being funded by the Korean government. We spoke to Smith and the school's local manager Eugene Crawford.

Hon. Godfrey Smith, Pickstock Area Rep.
"We are talking about, you can pick for instance single mothers with the skills to be seamstresses or to be able to sew for instance and other very very basic things which aren't really offered at the technical and vocational level as well it would be a daycare center because we don't have a daycare center here in the Pickstock division and of course it will double as a hurricane shelter."

Eugene Crawford, Central Christian
"My vision for this building, and has been for the past twelve to fifteen years, was a building that can offer a training, special training for single parents, for mothers and for fathers, and actually it would complement the efforts of the church in meeting the community and helping in areas that are needed."

Construction on the building should begin shortly. Earlier in the day, Ambassador Wung-Sik Kang was in Yo Creek Village where he also broke ground for the construction of a new school building. That project too will cost half a million dollars and it is being funded by the Korean government. Ambassador Kang is based in Mexico.
