The morning started with three shooting, and before noon, the 89th murder of the year was recorded. Reports are that around 9:30, 35-year-old Barrington Logan got into argument with a man on antelope street extension. The argument led to bloodshed when his attacker pulled out a knife and attacked Logan. Logan was stabbed multiple times in his face and upper body. He died a short while later.
One of the last persons to see Barrington alive is John Oliver. He was on Antelope Street Extension when a desperate and bleeding Barry Logan ran for help. He didn't know him or what had happened to him; he just saw a desperate and dying man. Oliver told us what he did next.
John Oliver, Took Body to Hospital
"We were just going to go get some material from the body works shop and going down we saw a guy running and he looked like he had a fight with a next guy. We saw him run and he stumbled and dropped. So we decided to pick him up and give him a little run to hospital. By the time we got there, they said he was dead."
Keith Swift,
Where was he stabbed?
John Oliver,
"He was bleeding from his face."
Keith Swift,
Did he tell you anything?
John Oliver,
"No. When he dropped down and we picked him up, he was already unconscious but we didn't figure he had already passed out already."
Keith Swift,
So the blood on your shirt, that is from him?
John Oliver,
"Yeah."
Keith Swift,
Do you know the young man?
John Oliver,
"No I don't know the young man. I just came back here to do a little work. I just came this morning to do some work for the garage house I work for."
Keith Swift,
What made you help?
John Oliver,
"Well I just saw the man drop on the side and I picked him up and rendered some aid."
Oliver's body was taken to the hospital and it awaits a post mortem. He actually lives in the Electric Avenue area of Lake Independence. His family says he was on Antelope Street visiting friends and he may have been attacked because of a rivalry in that area. His girlfriend of six years is Enid Carr. She told us that Barry left their home between 7 and 7:30 am. She says she simply couldn't believe he was dead when she got the news. She spoke to us off camera.
Enid Carr, Victim's Common-law Wife
"They said they had a young man who got stabbed and he is in the morgue. I couldn't believe it because he had just left from the morgue between 7 and 7:30 this morning. I don't know really know who he had a problem with but he hangs out on Gill Street and he had a lot of enemies so you have to ask those guys who hang out at the corner of T Stteet, they will know more.
That is my next half, that is my life. He takes care of me, he looks out for me, and everything like that so I have to miss him."
Police are investigating, but no one is detained.
