There are more questions than answers tonight about the death of 25-year-old Guatemalan national Edwin Annibal Hernandez. He was found dead on the side of the Southern Highway around 10 pm on New Year's Eve. A post mortem was conducted and the result lists the cause of death as "traumatic shock due to road traffic accident in a subject with machete wounds."

What does that mean? Well Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid says Hernandez had machete wounds as well as injuries consistent with being run over by a vehicle. Police suspect that Hernandez might have been chopped and left on the side of the highway where he was then run over.

Hernandez was last seen drinking with a Hispanic male in Maya King Village. The two got into an argument and police believe that precipitated the murder. A 29- year-old Honduran national was detained following the discovery. Given the results of the post mortem, police are awaiting a directive from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
