The next story could very easily have been the report of another woman who was chopped up by an enraged husband but because police were nearby the 25 year old was saved. It happened on Saturday night in Georgeville when officer in charge of the Cayo District Superintendent David Henderson was in the western village holding a community meeting on gang violence.

But domestic violence would emerge as the pressing issue of the evening, as the woman came to him explaining that her common law husband had just assaulted her. Henderson and his assistant went looking for the man, and found him, machete in hand, on his way to the meeting to confront his wife.

Henderson arrested the 43 year old who is named Jesus Lobos. He was charged for assault and appeared today in San Ignacio Magistrate's Court where he was remanded, pending a trial for harm.
