There's an old Creole proverb which says that: "when you see me and tiger di fight, no help me, help tiger." And tonight, that's basically what Dwayne Sewell (Seawell) - incarcerated in Jamaica, has told Belize's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A senior source in the ministry says that Kirk Anderson, who is now practicing law in Jamaica, called today to tell them to stand down in their efforts to have Sewell deported from Jamaica to Belize.
As we reported, the Ministry was trying to have Sewell returned from Jamaica to Belize where he would face extradition proceedings. The success of that depended on whether the Americans would grant him safe passage through Miami. The Belize-USA Extradition Treaty requires it, but the Americans reportedly refused, according to that senior source.
But it doesn't matter know - Kirk Anderson, private attorney will fight the expulsion order issued by the Jamaican Department of Immigration. Sewell was issued with the expulsion order after he over-stayed his time in Jamaica.
The Americans have issued a warrant for the arrest of Gary, Dwayne and Mark Sewell along with Christopher Lewis, also known as Carl Meighan. Lewis is an American and was sent back to the U.S. on Saturday.
