It is just being reported but there was a major heist of electronics and jewelry from Venus Photos and Records on Albert Street earlier this week.

How big? Well the store's owner Leopold Silva reported to police that between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, burglars stole $54,000 worth of digital cameras, watches, cell phones, computer games, DVD players, and other high priced electronic gadgets. There is no indication as to how the burglars penetrated the store's steel shutters.

Venus was famously looted in the riots of 2005 and since then the store owner bolstered security measures.

Police are investigating and they warn members of the public that purchasing stolen items is a crime.
