You probably know Miss Birdy Francis from her community work with the YWCA or from her teen talk show on Krem Television, but you probably haven't met Missy Birdy the love poet. Today Miss Birdy released not a book of poems but a card of six poems written 17 years ago to the man who became her husband. The card was published in collaboration with the Angelus Press. Miss Birdy was autographing cards this afternoon at the Angelus Press and we stopped in for a reading.

Birdy Francis, Poet
"I got inspired to write these poems when I was dating my husband and the things that he said to me just inspired me and I wrote them. It is a bi-fold card with six poems in it and they are not erotic love poems. They are just nice, pleasant, wonderful love poems, that makes you feel good. It is appropriate for a wedding, it is appropriate for Easter, for Mother's Day, it is appropriate for, just to say I love you. If you want to feel love and you want to give love, this is the card to get."

Trudy Cuthkelvin, Angelus Press
"We decided that we wanted to work with Miss Birdy because at the Angelus Press we try as much as possible to promote our local artists and of course poetry is a form of art. Ms. Birdy came up with an idea that she wanted to do a card. Now because she had six poems, we just had to decide how we would put these poems into a nice card that people can afford to buy."

The card retails for $6 and is available at the Angelus Press.
