Ten members of the BDF, five females and five males will walk and run 367 miles from one end of the country to another in just 6 days. It's not some sadistic p.t. punishment but a fund raising effort to benefit children living with HIV and Aids.
They started walking from Jalacte in Toledo on Tuesday and will finish in Santa Elena Corozal on Monday. And there's no shortcuts and no days off!
Starting on Tuesday, the route has been as follows: Jalacte to PG, then PG to Independence; then Independence to Dangriga; then Dangriga to Belmopan; drive to Melchor border. That's tonight and then trek to San Ignacio Town tomorrow; then from Santa Elena Cayo to Belize City on Saturday; then Belize City to Orange Walk on Sunday; then Orange Walk to Corozal and the Santa Elena border on Monday.
As we said it's a fundraising drive and a Herculean one at that. Those wanting to give can call Major James Requena at cell number 623-5025.
