On Sunday afternoon 16-year-old Sherick Trapp was killed when a motorcycle, he was the passenger on, slammed into a car on the Western Highway. The driver of the car has since been charged for Trapp's death but tonight his family says their son didn't have to die. Sherick suffered a broken pelvis in the accident and his family says he was alive and doing fairly well when they saw him at the hospital's emergency ward on Sunday afternoon.

But on Sunday night they got a call that Sherick was dead. His mother Dorla Fuller says her son was neglected and Sharette Augustus, the girlfriend of Keon Williams who was on the motorcycle with Trapp she says she saw it with her own eyes. We begin with Sherick's mom.

Dorla Fuller, Mother of Deceased
"My son should still have been alive because when I came to see my son, my son talked to me good and everything. He said the only thing part hurting him is the pain in his left side. The last thing he said is to come kiss me.

He said I love you mom. He said tell my girlfriend Ashley I love her. I said alright and he squeezed my hands. He kissed me and told he would see me tomorrow. My son was bright. My son had the pain. He talked to me, he talked to all his friends."

Sharette Augustus, Witness
"When he came in at the ward, they came and put him on the bed. The attendant asked him if he is alright and so me and him started to talk one thing to the next. But he is talking to my boyfriend and telling him you can't die. Me and him finished talking so I thought he went into a little rest and he jumped up and holler motherf, man please help me. I told him to ease up. The nurses came by the door told them you can't make those kind of noise because the other patients need to rest. He said but I am in pain and the nurses said they couldn't do nothing to that right now because they've already given him an injection.

The lady said you know something, she went for something which you take your pressure with, she stuck her hands with a needle first and when she stuck his hand, he took a big gulp and I was slapping him and asking what happened but he didn't come back. Two long eye water came out of his eye and they asked me to please go outside. I say if they had paid more attention to him, he was bawling like that and they could have called a doctor to please try and help him."

Sigmund Trapp, Father of Deceased
"From my belief the child was being neglected because there was a young lady who is the girlfriend of the other young man who was in the accident who was present there that gave us some information about what was happening to the child, the reaction until the doctors got a chance to get in there and from what she was saying, the child could have been attended by the nurse, more quicker to get he doctor in before the child went in a coma or was suffering from that shortness. So I am only saying that the hospital, I don't say the hospital is a bad hospital but we need to gave more doctors and more nurses that will pay more attention to our patients in the hospital."

Keith Swift,
Do you think your son would still be alive if they had paid more attention to him.

Sigmund Trapp,
"Yes, most likely."

The KHMH's Public Relations Officer Gary Ayuso says the family needs to file a complaint with his officer. The police meanwhile have charged German national 58-year-old Werner Haas with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, negligent grievous harm, and failure to give way when changing directions. Haas since been released on $6,000 bail. Keon Williams who was riving the cycle is still hospitalized.
