He was accused of kidnapping and robbing a couple in Orange Walk in 2004 and yesterday a jury in the Orange Walk Supreme Court told Raul Barahona that he was guilty.

The incident occurred on November 4th of 2004 on the Pueblo Nuevo Ferry Road in Corozal. The victim Eloisa Vellos testified that she and a male friend were in a car near the seaside when two men wearing masks and one armed with a gun and the other with a machete confronted them. They were robbed of jewelry and then tied up and blindfolded. They were driven and left on the roadside in Xaibe Village.

Originally, Barahona had been charged with another suspect but that accomplice turned on him and was the star witness against Barahona. Raul Barahona will be sentenced on June 11th by Justice Minette Hafiz-Bertram.
