A police constable is in police detention tonight as he faces criminal and disciplinary charges for running a major fuel scam. Investigations so far reveal that between November of last year and April of this year, the constable set up a scam that led to the misappropriation of 18 thousand gallons of fuel.

Reports say that the constable, who was in charge of giving out fuel orders for the Police Department, would give authorized order forms to members of the public. After that staff at a local gas station, working in collusion with the constable, would then knowingly pump the gas for civilians in their private cars who showed up using the police order form authorized by the constable.

Investigators have been going through wads of receipts to determine the extend of the scam, but with over $150,000 in fuel transactions spreading over at least 6 months, it's a lot of paperwork.

So how could an officer pull of such a large case of fraud with no one knowing? Well, that's what the new officer in charge of the Eastern Division, Assistant Commissioner Allen Whylie is trying to find out. He's reportedly ordered a vigorous investigation and has opted for criminal charges in addition to disciplinary measures. Those criminal charges may be brought as early as tomorrow.
