Nearly $10,000 of Anglican Cathedral College's registration money was stolen yesterday and police say it was an inside job. The school's office assistant is detained tonight pending charges.
It occurred yesterday afternoon at 2 pm when the school's caretaker Brian Anthony left the school's compound on Albert Street enroute to the Belize Bank. He was going to make a deposit of $7,088 in cash and an additional $2,389 in checks.
He left on his bicycle and was riding down Cockburn Lane when he passed a dark skinned man wearing an orange shirt on a bike. He rode another 20 feet unto Regent Street and encountered another dark skinned man. This one had a rag over his face and was armed. He pointed a silver gun at Anthony and demanded the money. The caretaker said he had no choice but to give up the manila envelope. The men then rode off.
As we said the office assistant is detained but up to this evening he hadn't been formally charged.
