On June 19th, SATIIM's Executive Director Greg Choq reported to police that his 9-millimeter gun was stolen from inside his pickup truck. It happened at 10 in the morning on North Front Street when thieves smashed Choq's window and snatched the gun, which was in a case. Well tonight police say they have recovered Choq's gun; it was found in Giovanni Louriano's car last night.
It was allegedly hidden in the gear shifter of a Geo Prism Louirano was driving. He was pulled over by police around midnight and taken to the Queen's Street Police Station where his vehicle was searched and the discovery was made. Along with the gun police recovered 20 live rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition.
Louriano has been charged with keeping a firearm without a license, keeping ammunition without a license, and handling stolen goods. He pleaded not guilty and was released on $5,000 bail. He is due back in court on August 15th.
