A 15-year-old boy was discharged from the KHMH today after sustaining serious facial injury when he was struck in the face. These things do happen, except that in this case this 15 year old, Jamil Grant was at the Youth Hostel in the care of the facility when he was lashed across the face with a two by four by another young man, a 17 year old who is also at the Hostel. Today his family called the media, saying it never should have happened, not at the Hostel.

Jules Vasquez Reporting,

This is how Jamil Grant's face looks after the brutal assault.

Jamil Grant, Victim
"Monday around five or six, I punched and then after news I dropped asleep and then I just felt something whapped me across my face and I don't remember anything else. I just felt a whap."

His aunt says the family was not contacted until the following morning, and she went to the KHMH to see her nephew's face.

Carol Gill, Aunt
"When I saw that with Jamil, cold seed came over me and my eye water run because then they shouldn't have done that to my nephew. The lady begged us not to go on the media with it but I told them what kind is that for them to have a 17 year old there. Those boys are too big. They have small children in Hostel. They need to find somewhere to put those big boys. Those boys don't need to be in the Hostel. They are 17 year old and Jamil is only 15.

Regardless of what Jamil did, they shouldn't have done him that. I am his auntie, I love him. He does his thing too but we have to forgive him and just forget about it. But watch how the little boy's face looks. Jamil went back to Hostel. Suppose the police let go the boy and send him back to Hostel.

What will happen? I don't know what will happen to him, the doctors say we just have to wait and see. That is what he said. He said he can't say what will happen to him later on. We will just wait and see what will happen in the later future of him."

The 17 year old has been held by police pending charges while police await a medical report. We were unable to get comment from the Hostel administration.
