Two weeks ago she was on TV sobbing after Ben Abou-Nehra, the man accused of killing her son was sent home from court a free man, but tonight Carolyn Copious is the one in jail. The 39 year old is accused of burglarizing the home of Athlee Matute at the corner of Church Street and West Canal. Matute says neighbors told him last night that an intruder was inside his home. He called police and when they responded they allegedly found Carolyn Copious in the house. Matute alleges that $3,000 worth of household items were stolen, including a Christmas tree costing $1,200. Today in court she pleaded not guilty and bail was denied bail. She reappears in court on August 22nd.
Carolyn is the mother of Shawn Copious who was allegedly killed by businessman Chayben Abou-Nehra in September of 2005. The case was thrown out after the crown counsel was unable to proceed. The DPP has gone on record saying that charges against him will be re-filed.
