Kareem Wright was the third of six shooting victims over the weekend, one of them being the murder of 18-year-old Gerald Duhaney. This afternoon the acting Commander of Eastern Division Senior Superintendent of Police Chester Williams issued a stern warning to those armed criminals.
Sr. Supt. Chester Williams, Acting Commander - Eastern Division
"I must say that operationally we are doing our best in order to try and see how best we could investigate these cases. We have the assistance of the other intelligence units in the division assisting CIB on these investigations because we want to find out who are responsible. And I would also sound it loud and clear to those persons responsible who are out there, who have the propensity of firing shots around the city as they would want to, that we will be coming at them very strongly and we are not running any games with them. We have given them the opportunity to try and settle whatever problems they may have and try to down the guns. So if they do not want to do so the easy way then we will use whatever laws they are out there in order to bring them to justice and deal with them very swift and severely."
Williams hasn't indicated if his officers will be going out any special patrols or raids.
