A woman says she was kidnapped, held captive for 2 days, and raped by her enraged ex-common law husband. The accused is a 23-year-old Nigerian who is tonight in jail, we cannot release his name because it may lead to the identity of his victim.
His ex-common law told police that on Friday September 28th, he sent a taxi to her home with the message that someone she knew had sent for her. She jumped in the cab but there was a detour to Dolphin Street which is where her ex jumped in the car and took her to his apartment on Periwinkle Street.
He forced her into his home and held her there and among other things, raped her. She says she was released two days later on Sunday September 30th. Her ex has been charged with aggravated assault and unlawful imprisonment. He was denied bail and remanded to prison until November 5th. Charges for sexual assault will be filed pending the outcome of a medical examination.
