And while four policemen have earned the ire of the community and a high court judge, another is a murder suspect, and another is accused of smuggling contraband - there is some good news to report tonight from the Police Department. Another big gun is off the street and police say the ak-47 they seized last night was found in a vehicle with three men dressed for war.

Around 8:30 a mobile patrol spotted a grey Pontiac Bonneville driving towards Iguana Street. Police ordered the vehicle to stop, its driver refused, and a high speed chased followed. It went onto Gibnut Street, Central American Boulevard, the Western Highway, Faber's Road, and eventually into a dead end on Madam Liz Avenue where the vehicle was cornered.

The three occupants attempted to flee but 29-year-old Winston Jones aka Baja didn't get far. He was cuffed and found wearing a bulletproof vest. That's not a crime but inside the vehicle police found an ak-47 which was loaded with 27 live rounds of 7.62 ammunition and a plastic bag with another 22 live rounds of 7.62 ammunition. Police also found a Glock brand magazine containing 30 live rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition which police claim was thrown from the car during the pursuit.

A second suspect, 27-year-old Jason Brown was arrested during a raid at 7:40 this morning on Faber's Road. Brown was wearing a white bulletproof vest and police found a muddy blue bulletproof vest in his car. Both men were taken to court this afternoon. Assistant Commissioner of Police Allan Whylie says it is clear that they were up to no good.

ACP Allan Whylie,
"Obviously they were up to no good. We have done some interviews with them. We have a good idea as to what was their intents but again I will not release that information."

Police are still seeking a third suspect but Jason Brown and Winston Jones made their first court appearance this afternoon. They were charged with keeping a prohibited firearm for the Ak-47 and keeping ammunition without a license. The prosecution was represented in court by Senior Superintendent Chester Williams who objected to bail. Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie concurred and denied them bail. They were represented in court by Dickie Bradley.
