Police Round Up MS-13 Gang Members

It is one of the most ruthless and feared gangs in Central America and yesterday police rounded up 16 suspects members of the MS-13 gang from off the streets of Belize City. We say suspected members because of that 16, police have only been able to charge 5 of them for displaying gang insignias.

The insignia's are MS-13 tattoos and the first of the 5 men appeared in court this afternoon. He is 19-year-old Hilberto Ruiz, an employee at Zeta Ice Factory. He pleaded guilty to displaying of gang insignia and was fined $200 by Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie.

The other 4 appear in court tomorrow. Police are investigating three others persons for possible immigration offenses.
