His body was found two Tuesday's ago but there are still more questions than answers tonight about the mysterious murder of well known city personality Rennick Reneau. But there is progress. Today, for the first time, after widespread public uproar, police confirmed that one of their own, Constable Lincoln Lewis is a suspect.

The investigation is headed by the Deputy Commander of Eastern Division - Senior Superintendent Chester Williams. As we've reported, Lewis was involved in an altercation with Rennick Reneau inside Kim's Bar the Friday

night before his murder. Whylie cautioned that PC Lewis, who is still on active duty, isn't the only suspect and he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

ACP Allan Whylie, Commander - Eastern Division
"He was brought in, he was interviewed, his brother was brought in and interviewed and because of the circumstance I would have to say that all things being equal - he would have to be considered a suspect just like other persons. We are pursuing other avenues. We have not so far been able to locate his common-law wife. We were made to understand there were some arguments between them and she had left the home. We've not been able to speak to her. She changed her address. We're trying to find her. We're also exploring other avenues that he had a problem with other persons we have identified but we're trying to tie up those sort of things."

"While a lot has been said concerning PC Lewis, it must be remembered that PC Lewis is entitled to all rights - just like any other citizen and he must be presumed innocent of any wrongdoing until investigation and evidence is found pertaining to that matter."

"I just want to caution people that whilst it is easy to make allegations, it is far more difficult to prove or disprove and therefore I want to ask the media's cooperation that we will do all we can to solve the Rennick Reneau case and no person is above the law. If any police officer was involved and we have evidence to deal with that matter and put it before the any court of law, rest assured it will be put before a court of law."

Whylie says that there has been a lot of speculation on morning talk shows but most of that he says is based on hearsay and would be inadmissible in court. He did say that even if there isn't enough evidence to charge one of his officers criminally for the Reneau's murder, that officer could still face internal disciplinary actions.
