He is a self-described “entertainer” who was accused of raping a ten-year-old girl in broad daylight on a popular southside beach and late this evening a jury convicted 35-year-old David Pavon of unlawful carnal knowledge.

The incident occurred on May 19, 2006 in the seas off Old College Beach on Caesar Ridge Road, next to the Esso Depot. That’s where the girl, who again was only ten years old at the time, claimed that Pavon took her into the water and had sex with her. He did it in full view of workers at Esso and passersby who called police. A police officer had to fire off a warning shot to stop Pavon. He was undefended at trial and only professed his innocence, telling the jury that he has kids himself and he wouldn’t do that to a child. Well two jurors did believe him but the other seven didn’t and in a majority of 7 to 2 – they voted to convict him.

He will be sentenced on November 21st. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
