It is a crime that shocked the small village community of Hattieville and left a family of 7 without a mother. But today, Glenford ‘Bucket’ Bermudez was charged for murdering his wife Raquel Requena on the Burrell Boom Road yesterday afternoon. Requena runs a taxi from the Hattieville Prison, and investigators believe that at 12:45 yesterday Bermudez was waiting for her to drive past.

He forced her vehicle off the road, and when it ran down the embankment, he pulled a 16 gauge shotgun, and fired a single shot from a distance of about

75 feet. She was shot in the head and died immediately. But she did have a passenger who witnessed it all, a woman with a child. After the shooting she managed to scramble out of the vehicle and catch another ride. Our reports say that police have tracked that passenger down and questioned her.

There are other still unanswered questions though, mainly about the 16 gauge shotgun. At the time of the murder, Bermudez was employed as a security guard – but so far it has not been determined where he got the gun. Police found the weapon in the trunk of his abandoned car about 5 miles from the murder scene, near to the Burrell Boom dumpsite. That’s where he had failed at hanging himself.

He is also a former BDF soldier who was discharged from the force some time ago.
