A Mennonite tradesman was killed today in an industrial accident at Camp 14 in the Shipyard Community. Reports are that at around 1:00 pm, Abram Enns was in a garage at a workshop welding stairs unto a 750 gallon oil tank when there was a massive explosion.

It appears that the tank had residual crude oil, and that was ignited by either heat or sparks from the welding. The 38 year old died immediately as a result of the explosion. But there was also a fire. And that’s where his two sons Jacob and Abram Jr. were badly burnt. They are in a critical condition at the Northern Regional Hospital.
