Her 73-year-old father Oswald Young was killed a year ago in a violent collision on the Northern Highway. And then, three months ago, her nephew Hubert Gillett was killed in another traffic accident - also on the Northern Highway. That's two victims from the same family in less than a year but police have made no arrests. That is why Cynthia Genaro and her son Robert flew 3,000 miles from California to Belize. The Genaros say all they are asking for is justice.
Cynthia Genaro, Daughter of Deceased
"My father was killed on the Northern Highway just past the Rose Ggarden and next month is going to be a year since my father was killed and there hasn't

been any arrest or question into what is going on about his death and my nephew was killed also on the Northern Highway in Biscayne and no one has been held responsible for either death also."
Keith Swift,
What do you want to happen?
Cynthia Genaro,
"What I want is justice for my father and justice for my nephew also and I think the Belize Police Force needs to be doing more to serve and protect the citizen of Belize."
Keith Swift,
Why don't you think the police are doing their job? How are you so sure they are not doing the proper investigations and they have just hit a brick wall?
Robert Genaro,
"For one, the vehicle that killed my cousin Hubert Gillett, the vehicle was pointed out by his mother on a street and she went and told the police officer exactly where the vehicle was, they went a day and a half later to look for that same vehicle, giving the suspect time to destroy all evidence whatsoever to prosecute the man."
Cynthia Genaro,
"I will be in Belize probably for another week and a half or I will be in Belize until justice is served. I will not leave until my father and my nephew get justice because that is the reason why a country has laws."
The Genaros have met with police but aren't satisfied with the response. A suspect was detained in one of the accidents -but he was never charged.
