For many couples, New Year's day is a time to reflect on their relationship and chart their way forward but for one union in San Pedro Ambergris Caye, the celebration was short lived after the boyfriend threw gasoline on his girlfriend and struck a match. The drama unfolded around two thirty in the home of twenty-three year old Glennis Haylock and twenty-two year old Argyle Jex. Information reaching 7NEWS reveal that the couple had just gotten home from a night out when Jex and Haylock got into an argument over an incident that happened at a club.
During the argument, Jex reportedly picked up a container full of gasoline and attempted to throw the combustible liquid over Haylock. But the young woman quickly knocked the container from her boyfriend's hands, but not in time to stop it from being spilled onto her feet. And that is when Jex lit a match and set Haylock's feet on fire - leaving these wounds you see here. We understand that it was concerned neighbors who came to Haylock's rescue.
Yesterday Argyle Jex was taken over to court where he was charged with wounding and given bail in the amount of two thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount.
