After seeing her ex-boyfriend with another woman – 42 year old Vilma Thomspon set his house on fire. Only the bedroom was burnt but the single mother was charged with arson and her trial was supposed to begin yesterday but she made a plea deal. Instead of arson – she pleaded guilty to damage to property. She will be sentenced on Monday afternoon.
The man’s home she tried to burn down is Raymond Jex. He told police that they had broken up but Thompson allegedly continued to show up at the door of his two bedroom apartment on Glenn Street. On October 4th of 2006 Jex says Thomspon showed up at his apartment. He claims he had to physically restrain her and she left. But as she was doing so – a female friend of his showed up. They went inside and that’s Thompson snuck in the house and lit a cloth doused in gasoline and threw it into the room.
