On Sunday 17-year-old Marcel Harris fell out of the pan of a pickup truck and tragically died and now the pickup’s driver has been charged for his death. On Sunday morning at 9 Harris was in the pan of a pickup driven by car washer – 23-year-old Wilford Arnold. Arnold was making a right turn onto University Drive from Graduate Crescent in the West Landivar area when Harris fell out.

Arnold took him to the hospital where he was placed on life support. Harris later died. Arnold was arrested and slapped with 7 charges – namely - manslaughter by negligence; causing death by careless conduct; driving a motor vehicle without valid driving license; using a motor vehicle not covered by third party; permitting persons to travel not properly seated and failure to report an accident.

He was charged for failure to report an accident because even though he took Harris to the hospital – he didn’t inform police about the accident.

He was arraigned before Magistrate Roberto Ordonez who released him on $5,000 bail plus one surety in the same amount. He was defended by Darrell Bradley and his next court date is May 28th.
