On Sunday in the Stann Creek District – acting on intelligence – a special police team set chase after an Isuzu Trooper that was seen coming out of a farm off mile 6 on the Hummingbird Highway. According to our reports, there were two men in the SUV and when they saw police, they sped away to a nearby home. They went and hid inside, but police tracked them down, broke down the door of the house and arrested them.

Inside the Trooper, they found a bucket with 13.9 kilos of cocaine – about 30.5 pounds. Using the DEA’s valuation standard, that would have a wholesale street value of about US$325,000.

They men have been identified as 27 year old Cyril Loague who is a former police officer and Henry Quinteros, a Guatemalan. They have been charged for drug trafficking but that’s not the end of the story. Information to 7NEWS is that police also suspect some Mexicans were in on the deal, but they have not been found. Loague gave his occupation as a car dealer from Orange Walk, but he is suspected to be associated with some major players – who have legitimate connections.
