Last week police found the body of truck driver Emigidio Gomez on a feeder road off the Coastal Highway. He had been tortured, shot and hanged. His sideman, Cornelio Schmitt made it out alive but had also been shot. The pair of loggers were returning from their operation near Banana Bank when a trio of gunmen forced them to stop and hijacked their lo-boy with a bulldozer on it.

The heavy equipment was found a day later on the More Tomorrow Road near Cotton Tree. Information now reaching police is that they were stowing it away because the bulldozer was the motive for the crime. Seems the trip had plans to sell it in Guatemala.

After intensive operations, police have caught two of the three men believed to be responsible for the crime. They are Jesse James Ochoa and Wesley Emmanuel, better known as Wesley Snipes. They were both found in the area of Banana Bank and police say they had been conducting surveillance on the loggers, and had planned the highway robbery well in advance.

According to evidence police have gathered, what they hadn’t planned on doing was killing Gomez. But based on statements from the two men police believe that the ringleader Juan Aldana, who is still at large, went crazy on Gomez because he had been drinking, because it was his birthday.

That man is still at large but believed to be out of the country, and police say they will provide a picture of him to the media tomorrow.
